Hello all, I'm starting on a rehab of a decent 1948 Jeepster. I believe at some point someone changed the engine because based on the SN the Jeepster is a 1948, Titled as a 1949 and has an F Head 134 engine which from what I've read wasnt available til 1950. i know it sounds like a Johnny Cash Song, right? Any way I need the following:

upper radiator hose
lower radiator hose
battery (6V system) should i use an 8V battery?
spark plugs
tires
water pump
thermostat

I'm sure i will need more but that should get me started. any suggestions on where to by the best quality lowest priced parts would be greatly appreciated.

Nice Jeepster! If your wiring and charging system is in decent shape, a 6 volt battery should do just fine.

I've had pretty good luck getting some of the more common parts at NAPA. Try using their website to find the parts you need, and come into the shop with the part numbers.

As for mail order, I've used and have had good experience with Walck's, Kaiser Willys, and The Jeepsterman. I'm partial to Walck's, since they reproduce many hard-to-find (or impossible-to-find) Willys parts. They're extremely knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions over the phone.

On the radiator hoses, just have them look up the hoses for the 1951 Jeepster with the F-head 4-cylinder.

That is exactly what we did. Thanks for the advice. keep it coming.
