Wondering if I can flat tow my jeepster with a tow dolly? Before the 4x4 folks reply, remember this is a 2wd T-96 3spd trans. Thoughts guys? Has anyone actually done it that can speak from experience? Thank you all.

I can't answer your question with any authority, but my goodness that's a beautiful car!

I have towed many 2x4 cars for long distances. If I were you I would put the rear on the dolly, tie the steering wheel off straight, and have at it.

Experience, Honda Accord towed 10k or more front end in dolly, Datsun (Not Nissan) pickup, rear wheels in dolly, steering wheel lashed, 15k miles plus. The pickup acts funky with hard turns, dolly skips, so when I can, I put a load in the bed as far back, up on the dolly as possible.

More projects dragged home on a dolly than I am willing to admit.

Beautiful rig by the way.

A tow Dolley under the rear wheels? with a tow truck? That would work great. Just chain up everything correctly. Or are you saying something else that I don't get?

I have flat towed many vehicles.. and still do. If your steering is good go ahead and do it. If the wheels don't straighten out on a tight turn use a bungi cord to help the steering wheel return. I guess if you are towing long distances you could be concerned about the drive shaft turning all the while but I never had a problem. Just make sure you have lube in the diff and trans.

Yes. I took driveshaft our and mounted a six inch channel with an A-type tow frame. Worked great.

Be warned! The gears in that trans will not be spinning so you risk frying the rear trans bearing. Not to mention the overdrive may do something weird also.
