wipers won't wipe snow

So far I have replaced the vaccum motor with an electric unit and installed new arms and blades. My stock cables linkage seems to be the weak link. I have done the cable adjustment per the manual. The system just doen't seem to be able to deal with snow. Has anybody beefed up the cable system? What is a replacement/conversion fix?

What is happening when you turn them on? Does the motor give up under the weight of the snow, and not have enough torque?

I just finished up a home-brewed electric motor conversion for my wagon, and it seems to have plenty of torque to move snow, it even popped the wipers free when they were frozen to the glass.

The cables are a bit of a convoluted setup, but it seems to me that unless the cables are somehow stretching or coming off the pulleys they should transfer the torque of the electric motor to the wiper arms. I adjusted mine to get rid of as much slack as I could, but there is still some there. Looking over the pulleys that adjust, It looks to me like you could grind off some metal from the stop to get more adjustment out of the bracket to get the cables tighter.

You may need to take the adjusters and transmissions apart and clean and lube them.if they are gummed up it drags the cables. You then need to adjust the cables as tight as you can and then tighten the nut down on the adjusters so they can not slip. Rain-X also helps alot.
