Well here is my problem. I have a 56 wagon with a SBC with adapter to the original t90. The input shaft seal on the adapter is torn and needs to be replaced. However this is not the advanced adapters adapter it is an older version and I am unsure of the exact type. Maybe someone on here has seen it before??

So my options as i see it are to:
Replace the open input shaft bearing in the transmission with one that is sealed and remove the seal on the inner side. I would also need to seal off any oil passage ways between the front of the transmission and the bellhousing adapter.
I could get the seal that Advanced Adapters lists in there instruction manual and hope it works......
Maybe I could find some one to size the seal???

Has anyone gone the Sealed bearing route?
Does anyone recognize the adapter I have?

Thanks for any input

I would go with a sealed bearing. Not sure I would even pull the inner seal, just leave it with the factory grease fill. The seal on the t-90's I have had apart is not even a seal, just grooves made in the shaft to spin the oil back towards the bearing in a loose fitting laberynth seal.

Not sure on the adapter but I do like the old small blocks with the valve covers without holes in them.

I have a later model sbc adapter plate ( AT 350 Chevy), if you planning on changing the engine....I can send you pic's...just an option.

Does it look like a stock 226 bell housing with an adapter ring to the smallblock?

Found this online and mine looks identical
