Newbie needs advice on continuing thread please

Help! I started a thread after joining and have made several additions but I don’t know the proper way to begin an update to my thread.
I have been using “reply” to post my progress but that doesn’t seem right, and I may be annoying someone who replied to my previous post. What button do I push?

Update to your own thread by writing in the white box and press Post Reply. Only press the Reply under someone else's post if you want to respond directly to something they wrote.

Glad to see the progress on these build threads.

I would just keep up the way described above, individual users have pretty good control of how updates and notifications are sent. If it annoys them they can unwatch the thread and choose the level of notifications.
