Revamping my '48 wagon has begun. Here are some of the changes/parts soon to be installed;

First order of change was removing the homemade exhaust manifolds, made of square/round tubing and "booger" welds

I am using Buick cast iron stock manifolds (left/'80 Buick Regal, right/'79 Pont.Firebird). Took the better part of the week-end to cut/weld new tubing to mate with the current Smitty glasspaks

Next, are some of the parts to be installed; 60/40 split bench from a '97 Toyota Tacoma extra cab

a 14" electric fan, Spal fan controller, and an 8 circuit wiring harness (radiator shroud is on the way)

an 8.8" Ford rear (3:73 gears)

a set of freshly powdercoated 15" Ford wheels (5" front, 7" rear) and new '50 Mercury caps. I just sold my pinewood derby track, so a new set of Diamondback radial wide whites will be the tires of choice

Also coming soon, will be a reworked stock instrument cluster, in which the ameter has been changed to be a volt meter, and the temp gauge has been recalibrated to read the higher operating temps of the V6. The fuel and oil press. gauges, and speedometer have also been rebuilt/calibrated

Later...

Those "homemade exhaust manifolds, made of square/round tubing and "booger" welds" look pretty interesting to me. I wonder why someone made them up.... must have been a fair bit of trouble. I wish my welds turned out so well!

Keep the pictures coming - your project looks very promising.
