Since I finally got around to doing some work today on the Wagon, I thought Id start an official build thread. Pics and info of the original state of the truck can be found here

Today I started by removing the front clip and prepping the engine to come out. As of right now, I just need to remove the engine and tranny mount bolts and its ready to come out of the truck. Ive already got a buyer lined up for the engine too!

I need to get a set of new hood hinges, mine were a little tweaked, but they PO welded them to the hook, so I had to cut and pry them off. I need to track down a new set of hinges, but I am going to see if my machinist buddy can make a billet set for me.

Its official, the build has begun. I have already broken a tool, bashed several knuckles, and bled all over this thing. Its mine now! More coming soon!

And last night I went and visited my engine in my buddy's garage. I still need to pick up some new valve covers to clear my roller rockers, and I need to install the accessories, but otherwise, its ready to go.

What happened here?...the pictures are super sized...help us out Pete! Welcome aboard!!!

It seems to be more an issue with this forum. Theyre showing up fine elsewhere and are the same size as all the other pics I posted. Well, now theyre smaller, but still showing up as bigger.I dunno.

Maybe it's the altitude you are at... Good looking Wagon however, not as many issues as what I inherited.

Freeze I seem to have lost the bubble here...didn't you have another thread? Or is this a start over or is there another Freeze on here. help me out, I am not real smart guy...

And what engine is that thing???

Yeah, I had an introduction thread with pics of the truck as it was when I brought it home. The link is in my last post. This is a build thread for documenting progress now that I am actually working on it. Im used to forums with a few more subforums that separate the introductions from tech.

The engine is a AMC 304 and T-15 from either a 72-75 CJ-5 or a 72-73 Jeepster.

Made a little progress today...

Top is ZJ crossmember, bottom is what was in the truck. It looks like the frame tapers outward from that position, so it will be a close fit, but it should go in pretty easily, even if I need to make some brackets.

Kevin-

There's something funky going on with the images... when I have the image size limiter turned on, the system can't seem to figure out the image size and won't let user post them. I've had the limiter turned off for about a month, and it it hasn't been an issue... Freeze's pics aren't giant on my browsers, Safari and Firefox. Might be IE thing, which seems to be full of weird issues.

I'll see what I can figg'r out.

EDIT: For some reason this forum is screwy and doesnt work right with my pics, so from here on out, you get links.

Sorry 'bout the image size thing, working on a fix...

Pete

Lol. I was getting worried. For the last year or so, Ive been using a 32" widescreen TV for a monitor, but for the moment, Im on a 19" comp monitor. My pics were always suitably sized, and I resized these just the same, but using the different monitor, they look different, especially on this forum. But today it wouldnt let me use the [i m g] [/ i m g]. Weird I tell you!

I was messing with the settings, probably about the time you were trying to post, which is why the img code didn't work. It should work now, but the image size limiter is still turned off. I'm not sure why your images were bigger than you expected them to be.

Anyone know much about turbocharged MPI engines?

I have a NEW custom race trim T3/T4 hybrid turbo sitting in my basement right now that would sure be a lot of fun to put on my 5.2L. I know I shouldnt, but I think it would be lots of fun :D

Yep, me too... Muddling my way through-

I would agree with you on that.
We got hammered here too.
I sucked up 1 spot in my garage for my project. So if I wasn't at work I could be working on my disc brake conversion today......

Have fun shovelling.

Shovel? Ha! Im not going out in that! Im surprised I was motivated enough to put pants on to go take a picture. And it will melt off pretty fast. Plus I dont have a driveway, so that helps. Or doesnt, depending on how you look at it.

Even the dog didnt want to stay out there long ans she loves the snow!
