Kind of defeats the nostalgia of it all, but it is a nice additive. Personally I want mine as original as possible but, safe!

A cool addition to a Willys hood to be sure, but I have two concerns:

Firstly, do the gas struts simply go to max extension or has a 'stop' been added to the hinges?

Second, and more importantly, what happened to the safety release with its little lever right under the hood?

First you will have to figure the "max" opening that you desire of the hood. you can buy gas shocks at any auto parts stores and figuring the "extended length" that you need. NOTE: some gas shocks require a ball type end others have a hole cut for a 3/8" stud.
The hood latch looks modified to a modern release as in the newer vehicles.
