I saw one of these back around 1976 or '77, back when I was young and didn't have any money. Finally bought this old rust bucket in Lompoc, Ca. on the 4th of July weekend. Got a nearly rust-free cab about the same time, from a guy just a couple of miles up the road from me. The salt air in Lompoc has just about destroyed this one, Lompoc being right on the Pacific Coast.

The first 2 are the morning after I got it home, the second 2 are the day I brought the other cab home.
Got the engine running sweet. Original 226, love the sound of a straight 6. Got a 3 speed, wish I had a 4 speed......

Cool...

I'm looking to pick one of these up, as well. Poor man's Unimog. ;)
Found one locally that has a snow blade and utility bed w/dump.
Not a lot of info out there.
Here or FC Connection is about the best I've found. Forward Forum is pretty good.
Anybody else on here have one?
Seems like they are kinda the ugly step sisters of Jeeps. I think they are pretty cool
Nice truck, Weaver! Looking forward to seeing what you do.
Especially during the cab swap.

I'll probably keep it pretty much stock. Dress it up a little with some extra lights, chrome or stainless west coast mirrors, nice paint job, etc.

Another willys in the IE. Will you be able to bring to Wrightwood for Willys Days on October 5th?

Thanks. The white truck-the rust is the only thing left holding the metal in place. The green/yellow cab has close to zero rust, and was bought as a stripped out cab only, to replace the white cab. I'm going to try to do the swap in the next 2-3 weeks. The green cab is a little older, has the 1st generation cooling tunnel and steel fender flairs with rubber molding on the edges. And.....lucky for me, it still has all the rubber seals for the missing glass, and it is in great shape. Already switched out the 2 rear quarter windows.

nice truck. I have a 61 fc 170

Took her out for a short drive this morning. Needs a carburetor rebuild. 25 July A.jpg25 July B.jpg Took these with my cellphone. In front of my house.

Had to put some air in those old dry rotted, almost bald, mis-matched tires. Was working on the xfer case shifter this afternoon and discovered it was in 4Hi all along. Thank God for free-wheeling hubs. Explains some of the noise, though. That combined with no oil in the transmission. Think I'll take it out for coffee tomorrow, see how much better it is in 2Hi, and with oil in the trans and transfer case.

I have 3 fc's in Woodcrest. Where are you in Riverside? Did you find that cab on N. Main St.?

I'm just east of downtown, and yes, the cab came from Placentia Ln. and N. Main St., by the county line.

This truck runs sweet. Getting ready for the cab swap now, got the bumper and brackets off yesterday. Guess I better figure out where I want to have the truck setting when I swap the cabs, cause the next thing is to start pulling the electric, and all the linkages and cables, the column, then the cab bolts.

By the way, it's registered as a '60 model, but the V.I.N. number puts it right square in the middle of the '59 production run.

Decided to spruce up my 1960 FC150 with a little chrome!

01 Sept 13.jpg01 Sept 13 (A).jpg01 Sept 13 (B).jpgTore off the rusty angle iron with the ball hitch, and mounted a proper pintle hook. Hooked up my old M-762 Jeep trailer to it so I could drag it out of the carport and wash it. Looks good behind the old FC, doesn't it. I think I may try to find a bed, and convert it back to an M-416.

I guess it's been a couple of weeks since my last up-date. So here is what I was doing last Sunday morning.

It's off! And what a filthy dirty mess that engine is. That will get cleaned before the cab goes back on.
Looks like the cab has been off before. All the wires spliced in the same place, no rubber cab mount on the left front, no mounting springs on the rear, and the other front mount sitting under the right rear, lots of odd things that all point to that.
Going to re-wire the whole truck while the cab is off. Going to have full instrumentation when I put it back together. Got all new Stewart-Warner gauges for it, going to be sweet. Taking pieces of the dash from both trucks to make one good one. Still missing the piece that goes around the column, if anyone has one they want to part with.

Good to see the progress, looking forward to your updates-

Pete
