Greetings y’all,

Brand new to this forum, excited to learn as much as I can from all of you to assist me in my new build. I just bought a 1964 Jeep FC-150 and have already started to break it all down in hopes of restoring and updating it and getting out on the road. I have VERY limited automotive repair experience/knowledge BUT I also have a 1942 Willys MB that I have almost completely restored myself.
I’ll be asking for a lot of help on here and welcome any and all advice, thanks for your help. Jason

Welcome to the forum. I live in arizona, but my truck sits up grass valley way. Hope to run into some time when I’m back on the road. Your FC will be easy to spot!

@ndnile is your neighbor and he also owns a milJeep.

If your skills really are limited, may I suggest NOT breaking the FC all the way down. Tackle minor to medium jobs at first. Brakes, fuel system, electrical, seats, etc.
This way, you won't feel overwhelmed when all you have left is a pile of parts, it will be waaaay easier to remember how to reassemble if you have only disassembled a little and if it's drivable btwn projects, your motivation and your family's tolerance will stay up.

HI David. Oh I’ll be all over the place when I get this FC up and running. I am going to repaint this thing though. Green and white most likely.

Great advice. Yes, I took my time with my MB, took a ton of pictures and labeled everything I removed and just stuck to one piece at a time. I learned a lot on that project. I just am nervous about the engine. It has milky oil so I’m guessing the head gasket is bad. I’m gonna be reaching out on here for advice. If I can fix that myself id like too.

Nice to meet local guys on here that can give me some advice.
Welcome aboard from Auburn. As Stakebed mentioned I have a couple MV toys. I have 43MB Jeep, an M170 military jeep and a 59 wagon. MB is done, M170 is a work in progress and the wagon patiently waits for me. The only non-stock item in the group is a SBC in the wagon. First thing I did on each is get them drivable. It bugs me when they can’t be driven.

I don’t know if you have connected with the local MV crowd, but I can make introductions to some very helpful folks. I belong to two local-ish clubs and one national one. All three have events. Next one up will be a 4-5 day campout and swap meet at Plymouth CA in September. Upwards of 200 rigs.

I am envious of your FC150. A stock green and white 58 was my first car. Girls were generally not impressed.

You wanna do something really different, buy this engine and a REALLY large shoehorn plus about a gallon of bacon fat.

Our own @Tilatobawillys is wrestling one into a FC but I think it's a FC170.
There is a rumor that back in the early 1960s, Willys built a prototype FC or two with the 230 OHC Tornado. Maybe @Willys Overland or @Bill Norris knows one way or the other.

Hey Doug, I believe you came over and helped me with my 42MB. You figured out the electrical issues I was having.

Nice! I like the yellow too. I Also have a 64 fc 150 going back together. I'm already learning From your pictures as everything on mine was unbolted. Putting a Kubota 2403 in mine.
