Vintage Willys pictures

From the Facebook group "Highway 36 and Highway 3 Northern California," here is a shot of the Wildwood store. It must be wintertime:

Hey Dan, This is a truly great picture. Not only is there the (then) nearly new wagon in Plantation white but if you look at the other side of the fence you can see one of the bronze colored Chrysler Turbine cars! To the left of the photo in front of the 64 Dodge is what I believe to be the tail end of Richard Petty's #43 Plymouth. What a time to be alive. 426 power as far as the eye can see!

It seems this picture was taken at Daytona. Here’s another taken at almost the same moment, with the turbine car in the background and the same guy leaning on the fencepost.

This is is surreal photo personally for me. It was taken in front of the Gilpin County Courthouse. I was married in that court house in July 1986. The wife is gone but I still have the Willys that brought us there.

Supplement: I also bought Traveller # 09 that was used in the Lost Gold Mine and is located directly under this photo one mile deep down in the earth. When the mine closed in 1987 I bought Traveller #09 after it was raised from the mine to the surface again. It had been under ground for years. Not long after that the town became a gambling town.
