1962 Station Wagon in Punjab, North India.

We don't have access to sand blasters so the frame will be cleaned by hand , epoxy then a black primer. The frame is slowly being cleaned of all surface rust / scale

Some additional updates. The underbody was prepped and coated with a black primer with anti corrosion properties. It should last me a life time I suppose. Attaching some photos. The damage to the wheel well will be repaired later when the tub is placed on the chassis and the effected bits coated again.

Also some close ups of the cross member that was cut to fit the power steering. An astute observation and a fix will be made before the tub is mounted on the frame for further repairs.

Richie,
On your post #69 above, the crosmember modification looks to be holding it's own and hasn't failed yet.

That is one way to work on a chassis. :)
Hello Leonard. The first photo is actually a bit of the metal added back. But as you mentioned it had held till date and that is indeed one way to look at it. We will either move the steering column away from the cross member completely or if it remains here, we will reinforce it further once the column has been fitted back properly. We will lift the Wagon and add extra reinforcement from underneath

The new engine that will be fitted is 90 pounds heavier and while we expect no structural risk , I hope to mitigate any future issues as well. Once this goes over the high Himalayan passes , don't want anything to break.

Tub is back on. We were able to save the original tub to frame bolts. More welding to follow

Nice old school workmanship there. Lower cowl repair is better than the patch panels you can buy.
Agreed Marcus. Wow, gas welding. Now that's old school craftsmanship.
So how much is an airline ticket to fly you to CA for wheel well repair to my wagon? :) ;)

Well gents.. the work on the Wagon will have to stop for the next six months as my folks are coming down to live with me in the land down under.

Attaching some photos of the Wagon at home. Heaps to do , rear panel to fabricate , parts to chase up , donor vehicle to search and a full mechanical rebuild to follow panel work.

Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement.
