Where was your Willys today?

With a new starter, the Wagon is running good again .Needs a bath badly. First mud, and now yellow pollen. I went to Colfax today, and stopped at Homie Joes Taco's for lunch, and the shop next door that had the yellow Willys wagon and disassembled Willys truck a couple weeks back ,was working on a Jeepster, Not a Willys, but a Kaiser Commando. The more I walked around the Commando the more I realized how straight it was, not a dent in it, and no Rust. Thought I'd get a couple pictures. Back in the late 80's my wife and I both had Commando's. Hers was the light blue metallic, with factory air, center console, rear padded arm rest, and sliding side glass. with a factory roof rack. Mine was plain Jane yellow with white top. Both had the Dauntless V6 and Turbo 400. Great little Jeeps, never should have let them go.

My Dad had a '70 Commando. I was surprised that little V6 warranted a TH400.
That little Buick 231ci V6 with a Turbo 400 was unbreakable. About 20 years ago my son put a 225 Buick with a T5 transmission in a 1970 Datsun Pick Up. That was a hoot to drive.

The weather in KC over the past 2 weeks has been fabulous but unfortunately I’ve been too busy to enjoy any Willys drives. Here’s a couple of pictures from 2 weeks ago at the JFK memorial and the Kansas City Museum, both in the historic NE Neighborhood.
