Just purchased a 1951 wagon that was used for mail delivery in Montana in a former life. I’ve owned 7 Wagoneers/Grand Wagoneers but, this is my first old Willys. I can’t wait to get this project off the ground. I hope to tap into the knowledge found on this site during this journey.

Welcome Ben.
As a kid, I grew up in a '53 Willys pickup powered by the F134.

As a prior Wagoneer owner, did you own one with the AMC 401 ? _ _ if so did you like it.
Also, you probably had both the 304 and 360 engines. Was there a noticeable difference between them ?
thank you. There are some of us running AMC 304's, so I am curious of what you experienced.

Therefore, if you were to place one of the three choices of AMC engines into a Wiilys wagon, which is your choice ?

There was a wagon FS in the "eWillys" website with an AMC 360, which I thought would be a nice swap.
On the other hand, the 400-cubes of the 401 would be nice if tugging a trailer behind a Willy wagon.

Like @rocket always reminds us, a front distributor is a nice feature, unlike the SBC rear dizzys.

Could a Willys make a guy go Postal ? _ _ _ LoL

Welcome!
I had a 1978 "Grand" Wagoneer back in the early '80s... to this day it is one of my favorite vehicles. (Sure could go through gasoline...)
I am also working on resurecting a 1951 4WD Willys Wagon... yours appears a bit more intact and complete than what I started with.
My F-Head wagon spent most of its life in Colorado. In fact, it seems to have spent about 40 years resting in one spot in northern Colorado.
Looking forward to seeing updates on your progress.

Welcome to OWF. Interesting you say it was a mail delivery truck but still has left hand steering? Was it converted back or ?
Looks like you (or PO) got some new suspension under it already.
Looks like some new sneakers too. Great start!
Good luck and have fun with your Wagon!
