So are we just sending gifts back and forth this year? Last year we didn't receive a gift from the person we sent one too, It was more mixed up. IE send to one person, receive from someone else? Just making sure! ;)
Yeah I think your right, the pull order is the same, so we can do the more random format.

There are many ways to do this, here is what I did.

I always enter the names of the people as the sign up and they are numbered as the list is created. That original list in on Post #2.

My daughter wrote out 1-16 on small squares and cut them up.

Numbers were folded and placed in the kitty helmet.

My son and daughter alternated picking the numbers out of the kitty helmet, they were stacked as they went.

My daughter pulled the #8 first then my son pulled the #1, and so on.

That is the order I posted them in.

I thought we did pairs, but @rocket is right we did, first # pulled (#8) sends to second # pulled (#1) and so on, the last number pulled sends to the first number pulled.....

That seems to be a fairly random, overkill and complicated so sounds like something I would do. I'm sure that's what we did.

So does the more random way or simpler way work?

Simpler way was pull the numbers and pair them up. It really does not matter.

I prefer random A to B, then B to C, etc. Then manually tweak it to avoid repeats or we can adjust repeats later amongst ourselves like bitzf4 and I just did.
Yeah that seems to work out pretty good, glad I thought of then, then forgot about it....... never boring.

The odds of the same numbers getting picked in the same sequence is pretty low with only 16 numbers. Nothing tracks from year to year on purpose.

I think it's like 50/50, it either will be the same or it will be different...
