I am looking for Willys HydraMatic transmission shift indicator

I am considering going to the Hydramatic for my 53 aero eagle. I had the gear indicator from the Bermuda that had the Hydramatic, but it was shot. So I got one from a 55 Pontiac. The indicator is very close to the Willys indicator and is metal.

I actually reproduced the shift indicator , very close to original
Are you going to install 6-226 super hurriane engine? I own an original 1953 AeroEagle HydraMatic

Does your aero eagle have the 161 Fhead coupled to the Hydramatic? If so, could you take some pictures of the bell housing to Hydramatic?

Is the picture of the gear indicator your car? You sure that you have a 1953 model? My 53 has a different instrument panel than that, and the heater/vent controls are on a small panel below the dash.

I would like to keep the 161 f head, but adapt to the Hydramatic from the Super Hurricane.

I own 3 HydraMatic 1953 Aero, 2 Hydramatic 1954 and two 1955 projects cars
also 4 Hydramatic parts cars .

In the picture I just posted, I was. trying the. reproduced. gear indicator on my 1955. HydraMatic. parts. car.

You are right. this. is not a. 1953. car.

I post pictures of 161. F head spare engine and spare hydramatic. transmission for. the. hurricane. 6. F head

also, a photo of my 1953. Aero Eagle HydraMatic project

you should know that the crankshafts of the standard. engines are different. from the ones in the hydramatic. engine

I do. not think. the crankshaft of the Hurricane 6 cylinder. F head could be coupled with a. Super Hurricane hudramatic transmisson , they are different ???

I have. spare 1953. hydramatic. GM
transmission

You say that the standard transmission crankshaft and the hydramatic transmission crankshaft are different. In what way? I am interested in getting a hydramatic that mates to the 161 F-head. Also needed is the flywheel, and possibly the starter if different than stick starter. Is this possible from you?

Thanks

i cannot find a motor and trans for my 1955 aero custom sedan. I would be willing to sell the shift indicators since I am going small block chevy. I also have a few other super hurricane engine parts available for sale.

Hello Corey ,

Thank you very much for your message . I am restoring 1953-1955 HydraMatic Aero cars ( 7 of them) . I wonder if your 1955 Custom was originally HydraMatic? I am ready to buy your car to restore another HydraMatic one . I own two spare HydraMatic SuperHurricane engines coupled with HydraMatic GM transmissions.

If you are willing to sell the car let me know and send pictures, if not , please share with me photos of the parts like the shift indicators or anything else available for sale.

If your car is a 4 door , it is probably not desirable hotrod project ? If you are interested I own a two door hard top 1954 Eagle Custom project car with factory installed continental kit located in Colorado , could be a great hot rod material ?

Thanks,

Edward

Greetings from the Jeep side. Glad to see the auto folks are active here, I enjoy seeing the Willys' car stuff, especially models other than the coupe of hot rod fame (though I would like to see one in it's original form?).
@Edozoya If you're producing the shift indicators and have some for sale; may I suggest you put an ad in the "For Sale: Parts" forum? Good way to spread the love and make a little beer money to boot!
And of course that goes for anyone that has any Willys' parts. Don't let stuff collect dust when you could be collecting dollars. No doubt you know that engine parts are valuable to the Jeep guys as well, especially things like carbs, exhaust manifolds and distributors.

And pictures... love seeing the projects AND finished products. I enjoyed the shot of @Edozoya 's dash; remember when you didn't have to look sideways to see what your speed was or if you needed gas?
So post 'em up, even if it's just under the tile of "Pictures of my '41 Coupe" (hint hint)

Thank you very much for your comments regarding the Willys Aero Passenger cars. These cars are very nice and in fact they were ahead of time in the wrong time.

I have the head, intake assembly with carb, bellhousing, water pump, distributor, and a bunch of other odd parts that were left in the truck. I have been trying to find the motor and transmission, but am going 350 chevy instead. But i have these items for sale as I am not going to need them. I can get pics of the other items later and post.
