You have a great looking truck and the fun begins.

Thanks, I’m in tinkering around mode right now. I used to Wagoneers and J trucks, so this is a “bit” different, haha.

Love the game cam pics. Now that I know Willys Wagons attract cougars, might have to do a little cruisin' ;)
The grille is beginning to look sharp; please post a close-up of the hood ornament, would like to see what the original "WO" looks like.
Thanks!

I’m in the market for a period correct license plate. But, I’m not in a hurry.

The old tie rod is out after I sourced a straight, but used replacement:

I used a tape measure front and rear of the front tires to dial in the alignment.

Beautiful p/u, love the stance and color. Is the body/sheet metal as solid as it looks?

Thank you- I’m digging it, too.

Yes, she’s pretty solid all the way around, minor surface rust here and there.

But, overall, pretty straight and clean for her age.

I traded a rim for this thing today:

I’ll clean up the “pads” where it bolts to the bed and leave her as-is; plus I’ll add a spare tire.

Very cool. Just curious, the suspense is killing me..........have you buffed out any area of that blue paint? Or are you going au naturel?

Thanks! The only things I’ve done are check fluids, replace the carb, rebuild the throttle linkage, vacuum the inside and get a new battery. While doing the engine bay stuff, I have rubbed the paint/dust combo with my shirt repeatedly just in the course of working on her. It did kinda buff out on that part of the fender fairly well.

On the one hand, it’s not the original color, on the other hand it has a unique look. I’m not sure what will happen with the paint.

We left the sun baked patina on my son’s truck when we did a frame off resto:

So I’m not opposed to leaving her as is for paint. But I’m also open to painting her back to factory. The older resto was well done- not much evidence of the original color.

I think it will all come down to what happens when I go to replace the windshield and how that turns out. Things like- will there be rust along the windshield channel, will the blue paint peel off near the gasket, etc.?

One step closer:

Taillights, turn signals, and brake lights. The taillight housings were shot, so I gutted them and swapped in new internals- then traced the brake light failure to a bad switch on the brake master cylinder, so a standard plunger switch was mounted up and Stock wiring was used.

The PO wired up the yellow light for turn signals, so I left it even though it isn’t stock.

I’ve been busy putting brick/pavers stones down on the side drive.

Roughly 4K stones. Don’t want to do that again.

Today, I installed low back bucket seats and a center console. The low backs are jeeps and the center console is Chevy. The old blue seats were mid 70’s Ford and smelled.

I had to trim the back of the center console to fit.

I’ll trim it one more time before I mount is more securely in place and also raise it up a bit to match the height of the seats.

It’s been quite the time with this old girl recently. The transmission stopped shifting. Then the starter went out. Too bad, the engine was rebuilt and runs pretty strong.

I’ll take the starter out and have it rebuilt locally, but I’m now deliberating on what to do about the transmission.

I snagged used glass for the side windows.

Meanwhile, I snagged a Dana 60 rear end, and a a buddy builds axle worked up a narrowed 44 open knuckle front axle for me. It was delivered today. Now it’s time to put it together after a thorough cleaning.
