Actually, it's just a general demographic thing the ad algorithms are tuned to. Car related forums mean guys. Guys mean chicks. Guys and chicks mean hooking up. Hooking up equals dating sites. Dating sites use pro model head shots (I wouldn't call them "trashy" unless you're used to mud fence homely) to sucker you in. If you do see something that grabs your "attention" and you fall for it, then you might get the real thing; mud fence homely that could eat an ear of corn through a picket fence and she lives in the next town over.Gotta ask: are there any teenage boys in the house?
now thats funny.I’m an All Star so don’t see the ads. @Pete can comment more but the ad space is what pays for the forum.
Also, it's my understanding the content of the ads is based off your personal computer’s browser’s actual search history or a calculation of what the internet thinks you would like to see based off your specific search history. In other words, what you see is based off your own computer and has nothing to do with the forum.
Gotta ask: are there any teenage boys in the house?
Bob, absolutely on the ads between posts.Actually, it's just a general demographic thing the ad algorithms are tuned to. Car related forums mean guys. Guys mean chicks. There are little hard to see buttons on the ads at the top right, one gives "feedback" the other will collapse the ad temporarily. If you backfeed that the ad is not to your liking you'll probably get harbor freight or some other junk site for a little while and the gurlz come back cause dating sites make a lot of money and spend a lot on ads.
On thing that I've noticed now is that ads are popping up between posts, where before they were just banner and bottom. Pretty annoying and distracting so I guess I need to pony up the 40 bucks for the All Star status or just stop using my phone to access the site.
And to answer @scramboleer 's question: If anyone is still so stupid as to use Google to look for porn (or anything else) you'll get more than just "head" shots of women
(Google tracks your search history and syncs it across all of your devices. May I suggest DuckDuckGo...)
Yeah, Temu... as if you or any of us needs another place to buy more junk! Ever seen a hearse with a U-Haul attached? At our ages we need to be getting rid of crap instead of collecting it. (cause the day after we're gone, it's all going to the junkyard!)What I have been innundated with lately is "Temu" ads, an I've never visited Temu. Thank you Microsoft.
As they say, if the website is free, then you (the user) are the product.Yeah, Temu... as if you or any of us needs another place to buy more junk! Ever seen a hearse with a U-Haul attached? I'll give some of the credit to MS, but it's more search engines like Google who not only get paid to advertise but to track your searches and sell that info to third parties. This is truly the new world order: you, reduced to a commodity
