Old Willys Forum will be undergoing a major software upgrade over the next few days, and will be down for a portion of that time.
We will be moving to a completely new software, Xenforo. Our current vBulletin software is an "end of life" version, which is not longer supported, and the new vBulletin software isn't all that great. Many of the add-on mods we use with the forum software are also no longer supported, and are vulnerable to spam attacks. We've had lots of issues with vBulletin over the years, and I am looking forward to the upgrade. The new software will also comply with new regulations for privacy and security.
You may already be using Xenforo on other forums you visit. it is a widely used and intuitive interface, and works much like the existing setup. There will be a bit of a learning curve to get the new software dialed in, and running smoothly, and a period of time for everyone to get used to the new look and feel.
Initially, depending on how time consuming the transfer is, the forum may come back with a temporary generic "skin" to keep everything up and running. This will give us some time to get the graphics together to make everything look like the old forum.
If the forum is down the next time you try to log in, it is because we will be under the hood wrenching to make this a better place for everything Willys.
