SO it took no less then 7 days work but I have my long block completely assembled.

Timing cover is on

Head is torqued

Oil pan is on

And all the goodies under neither are where they should be and it looks good.

I only got one photo today and its of the special Timing pointer I made for the timing cover and the TDC, 5BTDC, 10BTDC hash marks I cut into the crank pulley.

I'm going to have to replace all the oil pan bolts and what I thought was my package of specially bought Button head bolts for the pan had half as many as I needed and some of those were to long for the application. So I got everything from Grade 8's to Black Button heads holding it on while the sealer sets up LOL.

I am a very happy camper this was a very long and frustrating process with every step forward requiring two steps sideways. But I'm pretty sure its going to be a runner.

Wish it wasn't going to be so long before I can crank it up. But I still have a custom intake manifold and a Scratch built Header to make. As well as buy a Starter, Alternator, Water Pump, Fan belt, reassemble my Distributor, Buy points condenser and cap, Build my plug wires, and figure out where to hang my over sized spin oil filter assembly and do the oil lines. ANd 47 things I haven't thought up yet.

OH and a radiator!

It will look quite a bit different then a restoration motor. It will have a much less cluttered engine compartment. I'm going full on Hot Rod LOL.

OK I got a bunch more work done on the engine in the last couple days so I will show off a little Willys Hot Rod Porn

Today was mostly a clean up day in the shop but I did manage to get the Plug wires done. I think they came out pretty good.

Great job on a good looking motor Mark. When will your truck be ready to play in the MUD? Pivnic

Very cool Mark, looks great.

Pete

The game plan is to weekend car show the Willys for the first summer then its all mud and scratches after that. But I'm not interested in the so called 4wd drive crowd thing of seeing if I can get over, through, or around something just to do it. The wife and I have some adventures planned that involve things like trying to find old homesteads and seeing parts of Oregon we haven't been to as well as some trips up into BC Canada and Washington State and their wilds.

Damn that looks good Mark!

Thanks for the kind comments guys. The paint in these photos looks a shade green its NEW FORD GRAY so is actually a very neutral gray. Originally we were going to paint the Jeep back to the RED/ORANGE that dad painted it in the early 60's and the wife thought the Gray would really pop against the inner fenders and firewall that color. Now it looks like we are going to a 1998 Dodge Intense Blue (a medium low metallic blue) My sons Dakota is that color so its easy for me to get a good handle on what it looks like. She says the Gray will look great against the blue as well. We are going to put an Orange pin stripe on the wheels and between the White Aluminum top I am going to build and the Blue tub. The seats already have an Orange piping. This is to honor dads color choice.
