Got a question for you experienced Willys addicts. My wagon title says it is a 63. I have heard that the year reflected when it was titled and not necessarily when it was produced. I'm thinking that is pretty important when I am looking for parts so I make sure that what I get is going to fit. So, how long were they in production? Is there a parts swapping guide anywhere that I can get?

I know for a lot of stuff I am just going to have to wing it which is fine......just curious.

My Vin says 5417810183 if that helps.

thanks!

I also have a wagon titled as a 63 but I believe it is a 60 due to having a split windshield and ribbed roof along with the style of trim. Order a catalog from willysamerica and the restoration guide goes over the details of each year and model.

I wish you luck...it appears that poor record keeping and/or information available makes it a guessing game.
VIN # 54178810183 IMO (in my opinion) was built in 1962, sold to the dealer in 1963, therefore it is a '63...is it different than my '62 VIN # 5416868228??? Yes...my engine would have been a 226 L Head 6 Cyl....yours being a Kaiser OHC 6 Cyl everything else being the same....regarding windshields (one piece, two piece glass) - 1959 4x2 received a one piece glass, 1959 4x4 recieving the standard two piece windshield. By 1960 all models had a one piece windshield...but perhaps someone in parts found some earlier center glass parts later years and decided to use them up....saving money.
I'm not a purist restorer, I would think that parts are interchangeable, but can't 100% say yes.
HAVE YOU FLAGGED YOUR LOCATION ON THE MEMBERS MAP???

Our wagon is registered as a '65 but I have been told that production ended in '64. Of course ours has the Tornado OHC six and one piece (cracked) windshield. Our taillights are the truck style (look like little cups stuck to the tailight bezel) not the flat glass style and the front turn signals have plastic lenses.
I suspect you will find there is very little difference between the wagons made in the last few years.
One thing that amazes me is that Kaiser didn't use 4 spds in all the Tornado engined vehicles - surely it would have been a big selling feature for very little extra production expense...
