Where was your Willys today?

My 94 Wrangler only had a 30,000 warranty on the drive train. I took it in a couple of time because the 2.5 4 cylinder rattled like a Diesel. 32,000 the engine grenaded. They did install a new engine after realizing I had complained about it. Turned out they had a bad run of knock sensors and the timing ran so far advanced and the injection so lean it melted the pitons.

Took a little trip around an area I used to frequent when whitewater kayaking in Arkansas. I took the road to Rudy and then down to the Lancaster bridge.

Crossing this one lane with no side guards is interesting

Then I drove back up and over the mountain to the "Grotto hole". No idea how it got its name.

This crossing is more secure feeling.

Here is a vue up at the freeway that I just went over.

Beautiful pictures, nice country roads, great for a Willys!

Hadn’t driven the wagon for a while. Wanted to make sure all was well. Took it down to the car wash for a quick rinse, keeping the nozzle well back from the from the surface.

The paint is drying on the spare rim at right.

Kurt, my wife and I were out in your neck of the woods yesterday. We went out Pleasant Valley road and Bucks road to Grizzly Flats. The first time we have been there since it burned. Pretty depressing. It was nice to see a fair amount of houses getting rebuit and I can see in time it will fully recover.

Grizzly Flats was long our gateway to the part of the national forest we knew best. The first time we drove up there after the fire, it was just a devastating sensation to see an entire community reduced to ashes almost completely. It was also very disorienting at first, with so many familiar landmarks gone.

Another super Wyoming September day and a trip to Casper wyoming was needed. At 6:30 am, I drove from Albany to Laramie, got gas, then onto Medicine Bow, Wyoming where I wanted to top off the gas since I haven't nailed a MPG down yet. Three guys in three worktrucks were chatting when I drop up to the pump. They wanted pictures so I opened the hood and gassed up. They left before I was done. About 10 miles down the road, I noticed the hood was bouncing up more than it should so I stopped and found I hadn't locked into the main latch assembly. A good slam and I was down the road. Nice sunny warming up day as it was in the thirties when I left. The heater works well and I had the top up and windows in to Casper. Spend an hour as part of a press conference with the Wyoming Game and Fish, Wyoming Department of education, the Governor and our Senator Barrasso. Then pulled the windows for the rest of the trip traveling through Glenrock, Douglas for lunch, Wheatland, Sybille Canyon. Had a beer at the Sybille station pub and continued onto Laramie. Seen a friend there for about an half hour, then to store and home. Got home about 6 pm in time for dinner. 401 milesIMG_6512.JPGIMG_6508.JPGIMG_6504.JPGIMG_6503.JPG

wife and I saw a flat fender coming down the hill from grizzlyflats. Are new house is almost done up there.

Took my Traveller to a Woodie car show at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, CA. 75 miles each way on the freeway. My first freeway run since I bought it 3 months ago. It did great. My tension and anxiety listening for any sound that shouldn't be there melted away after about 10 miles and turned into a big grin the rest of the way.

It was a beautiful day with beautiful woodies and a couple of tin woodies.
