Hi all,
I have a 56 wagon and am planning on going back to a stock wheel and tire set up. I found what i thought was an identical set only to discover that one of the rims measures at 5" while all the others are 4.5". Can I use Them like this or do I need to go back to the hunt

Norm, My personal opinion is to make sure they are all the same size. The only reason I say this is because I have a friend, who years ago had a 66 fairlane and had mix and match rim widths. It messed with the handling of that car. It might not affect yours, but why have it plague your mind every time you are out and about with it. Peace of mind is "almost" everything when it comes to driving an old vehicle.

Yes, take Aquawilly's advice and have all the same wheels. The pickup wheels were 5" and wagon wheels. 4 1/2 I have been told. Of course both of these widths are considered pretty narrow these days and also, if you intend to put Chevy discs on the front, the wheels will not clear the calipers without spacers.
I am looking for 1999/2000 Suzuki Vitara 16" X 6 1/2" wheels which, again I have been told will fit nicely over discs and have the correct offset. Haven't found a set yet.

Cheers,

Pavel

Curious if you know Pavel, if the 16" stock wheels will fit over the disc brakes?

As for the original question, I would get the wheels all the same. I would think it would have handling issues if one of the wheels was a different width.

PS. Welcome to the forum Norm...

I guess that I really already knew that. I think that I have located a few more and hopefully I will be able to make a complete set. I recently saw a complete set of steel wheels off a vitara here in Tacoma Wa.

That looks great!

From the pic that looks like the stance I am shooting for with mine. If you don't mind, what size wheel / tire combo is that and how much lift?

Do you have any issues with the tires hitting in the rear? Looks like they stick out past the fenderwell.

thanks,

Tom
