I've noticed that most unrestored photos have a hole in the box on the drivers side of the cab, mine included. What is suppose to be in that hole?

If you are referring to the square and rounds holes in the dash in front of the steering wheel, that is for a radio which was an option. If not, which hole?

That is the hole I'm talking about. I was guessing that was a radio in there are one time but in 1951? Plus it does not look cut factory.
The truck does not have the smaller holes just the square one?

Nick is right - radio, many blank plates have been owner modified. Finding one that has not been cut may be a bit of a challenge.

you can git that plate replaced from any of the parts suppliers on this forum just replaced mine cost was about 30 bucks if i remember right

I am pretty sure the willys company was very foreward thinking. In other words the whole truck is set up to have the driver on either side of the vehicle which would mean the glove box would have to switch sides. There is a hole on both sides od the frame for the steering box.

Now the ultimate question...Where do I find a 6v Radio?
I think I've read of converters that allow 12V radio am I dreaming?

Some years back they manufactured a inverter that was used in 6 volt vehicles for 12v accessories. I have found 3 at local swap meets in the past two years and they all still worked so I think there are plenty out there. Harry
Sheets at Midwest willys had some at one time, you might contact him.

It looks like your hole's been hacked already. Might as well go for an upgrade. I found another one with a hacked hole and kept my original virgin glove box cover for posteriety (it's cherry). Once I got used to one hacked hole I decided to make a few more. this way I didn't have to hack the dash for 4 way flasher, back up and fog switch. It turned out ok.
