I've decided to install an overdrive and front pto on my sedan delivery while it is in the midst of it's restoration. I will probably go through Herm the overdrive guy and will call him on the overdrive. I have the original 226 and running gear so I am assuming that I will be wanting the Warn overdrive, correct? From there, I will need to find a good condition pto. Anyone have one for sale?

Does the pto hook right up to the overdrive without too much effort? I would also want a front winch and front pto shaft. I want to make sure to acquire everything I need ahead of time so I don't run into any problems. Any advice on where to get all I need and any advice on the install?

Herm should be able to advise you on the OD plus PTO setup. It will not be cheap unless you are lucky and find a good deal in good shape (Craig's List?). Permit me to suggest that you phone Herm as he doesn't respond to emails very fast in my experience.

All the best...

Don't have any of the components yet. I plan on calling Herm tomorrow. I'm not too worried about the price, I decided long ago that I wanted this SD as nice and as driveable as possible so I can actually use it regularly with some level of reliability for my business. Really looking forward to finally driving it.

So any specifics on what pto and winch you are looking for? I will defeniatly keep my eyes peeled for another as I just picked up a complete set from a 56 wagon. Winch, PTO and shaft I just found for mine way out here in montana were 250. I think I may know someone with a winch. Let me know if you got any specifics you are looking for.

Bobat,

Well, I wouldn't say cost doesn't matter, but when I started this resto, I was realistic right off the bat about what I could spend on it. I would always like to save on anything I can, but not at the expense of the final result. This wagon is going to be a part time "work" truck for me in my family business and thus also a marketing tool. I want it to look good and work well.

Phsarge,

Don't know what brand winch I want. I honestly don't know what was available as a pto winch or what fits the wagon well. Just starting to research it. Any suggestions?

I know there was a Ramsey and Koenig winch made not sure if any others. There was a ton of PTO's available from what I can gater as far asconfiguration and arangements. My setup is a Ramsey Winch with a Koenigmodel PTO. One thing I found on another website the guy shows a difference in the PTO's as some were made for CJ's and had a steeper drop. As for recomendations I would say to each his own on this as I am trying to swap my front only PTO for a dual stick front and rear.

Nuglio,

I bought a '56 wagon about 4 months ago and I learned that it had a Borg Warner R-10 overdrive. Not knowing anything about them I called Herm and also the guys at Willys America to get more information about it. I found out it's pretty rare in the 4WD configuration and in their opinion it was a great option.

I posted one for sale in the classifieds (on this site) this week. I do have a prospective buyer but if for some reason it falls thru it will be available.

Good luck.

Steve
