On the 1971 Jeepster Commando, I was trying to get the drivers side door adjusted. When I pulled the bottom hinge screws from the pillar side, the plate that holds the screws fell down. Try as I might I could not find the plate to fish it out.
Does any one have an ides - or a drawing of the plate so I can make another.

You are talking about the one one the 'tub' side correct?

Did if fall down towards the rocker panel?

Can you see the one on the passenger side to make a copy?

Yup! It has fallen down into the frame. From Sam at Partsdude4x4 I'll cut a hole in the kick panel and see if I can get a hand in there. We tried thru the speaker and had it but it dropped further down, I'll try a hole in the panel, but it that doesn't work, San can make a new one for me. The bolt plate into which the hinge screws thread is a plate that is held there in a box (not quite a boxed nut as the plate has to move a round a bit for adjusting). It seems the box had rusted and the bolt plate fell out!! AND this is just the beginning of getting this great car back on the road!!!
 
Oh there's a speaker hole, great.
Have you tried a magnetic flexible pickup tool, one where the magnet is only on the end of the tool? Worked for me in the past.
Before you cut another hole, maybe make your speaker hole larger so you can cover it with a larger speaker in the end?

Whew - got it out - had to clear out a lot of the foam, and wonder about replacing it. It seems the 'box' that holds the plate was not rusted but some how was bent away from the wall. Got the plate back in and managed to get the box back enough that it holds the plate.
