Parking brake job aborted, we will be living dangerously on this trip. Wiring 90% done, tires changed and trying something new this time. STA Super Traxions. I had an old 51 Chevy with the same pattern by Firestone. The great thing about STA tire.. made in the USA.

Did you abort because the parking brake linkage and overdrive want to occupy the same space?
My a1 came with OD and disconnected parking brake.

I made a new rod that curve s around the brake and works, but I need to build a new spring anti rattle device. The rattling is crazy. I may work on that this week after work.
You mean it's possible to have both? Overdrive and transfer case parking brake?
Yes, but custom made parts are needed.
I can do that if it's home fabrication.
I thought I would have to move the parking brake handle rearward to have the linkage clear the overdrive.
My stock parking brake handle has two holes for the control rod. One roughly 1-1.5” behind the other. I drilled a new hole in the floor that mirrors the stock hole, now I just need to Make a permanent control rod and and anti rattle spring.

M170 looks great. I had a 1953 M170 that I somewhat restored in my barn yard with the assistance of a Great Pyrenees, a donkey and 2 llamas. Did not have the radio. Was just using it here on my farm with the goats. Real adventure trying to get it to look right. Painted mine the matte Forest Green. Put it up for sale at a price, guy offered me my price and off it went to Charlane Plantation, in Dry Branch Georgia for hunting trips.This will make you melt, m170 radio jeep USMC as ordered...

Ben, what steered you away from the M170 solution? I’m installing an OD into my M170 and trying to see what I’m up against.
