Suggestions for Chevy motor with NV3550 into a 1955 Wagon???

Hi there,

I just picked up a 1955 Wagon. It has a V8 in it (not sure what it is) but I want to put a Chevy SB in it with a NV3550 in it. I have a Bronco that I used the NV3550 and love it. Just not sure about what transfer case to use or if anyone has experience putting a NV3550 in one. Let the fun begin.. lol

Following this closely. I am leaning toward installing a GM 4.8L V8 plus the NV3550 plus transfer case in my truck.

What transfer case are you considering?

Maybe a 241 if I go modern. Or less likely, I am considering an adapter to a D18 for everything that we know and love - gear whine plus the ability to add an overdrive (not that I'd need one).

on an old project, I had a dana300 bolted directly to an nv3550

You have to drill two extra holes in the transmission flange, but perfect bolt up.

Then I used a Dakota bell housing to bolt up a Buick FWD 3800.

Wow, The Novak adapter for the NV3550 to SBC is a lot cheaper than I would have guessed! That's got me thinking a whole different way...
