Should the Forum have sub-categories for various topics?

  • Yes, sub-catgories would help organize the threads into something coherent.

sub catagories?

Interior, exterior, metal work, axles and transfer cases, engines & wiring, etc.

Since we seem to be getting new members every day and there are alot of questions regarding specific areas does it make sense to break it down? Insert MC Hammer move here.

Just thinking out loud. Or it's the voices in my head. Not sure

Re: sub catagories?

It would be a help as the subjects flush out with suggestions and opinions.

Re: sub catagories?

I think it may help also, especially as the forum grows.

Nice to see it is getting busier on here! Gives me something to read and helps me stay motivated while I am waiting to get mine back. Now staying motivated after I have it back and see all the work in front of me is going to be the trick......

The question has been asked, so it's an opportune time for a POLL!

If you vote yes, respond to this thread with category suggestions.

Thanks,

Pete

I think something breaking down interior, exterior, axles & t-case, motors, & electrical (12v & 6v?)would be great.
If we can keep it to something simple and keep the more tight knit feel that would be great. I'd hate to see it get subbed into 30 categories like some sites. I'd hate to see it get broke down into year or model specific because you might not see other ideas, problems, or fixes for problems because you weren't looking in the exact category. Who knows, it might get so big we might need to down the road but we can cross that bridge another day.

Pete, thanks for all your hard work. This is a great site!!!!!!! I'm glad to see more and more people signing up. More people to learn from and possibly help.

Thanks
Steve

Thanks for your input Steve. I tent to like forums that don't have many sub-categories, only because I like to browse through all the posts without having to click on each category. I tend to miss new threads because I forgot to look in one category or another. That said, it would be good to have some sort of organization on the forum. I set the poll to run ten days, and I'll see where the member's opinion is at that point. It is fairly easy to add the sub-categories once the decision has been made.

It has been a ton of work putting this place together, but it is coming along nicely and has been well worth the time and effort.

OK -voted yes. I do agree about keeping it simple though because I like to read everything as well.

I would suggest basics like roundss mentioned- can always add more later if needed.

Interior, exterior ( would this include body work?) , electrical, motor, suspension & drivetrain.

Tom

I voted yes. But, I don't have an opinion on the matter for I am too new to this type of forum. I will have some specific question in specific areas of my vehicle, though.
