Anyone know if a model 53 rear axle ring and penion will inter-change with a wagon model 44. I found a rear axle with possible problems about 4 hours away. I can get a good wagon rear axle. With the pickup axle being longer can I use the housing and the axles with the wagons ring and penion as long as the gear ratio matches the front. The truck rear axle is out of a 62 and the wagon axle is a 62 also I think. Thanks Chuck
 
I want to say they won't. I think the Dana 40 and 44 are the only Jeep rears that interchange a few parts. If you're talking about the same guy, then I can check the axles out and see exactly what they are when I go by and pick up that motor. If you can even buy a broken D44, the parts are pretty easy to come by.
