Willys Model
Willys Year:
Hi everyone. I've been lurking here for a while, finally joined in. I've been a Willys nut since I found my '55 PU a few years ago in SD. It was in running condition, but it was making some strange noises, blowing smoke and leaking oil worse than the old Whizzer motorbike I had when I was a kid. I have addressed the mechanical issues but the truck still looks pretty much the same as when I bought it, I kind of like the used look. It has the L226 engine, T90/D18 with a Warn OD, 4.88 axle gears. I use it just about every day for something, running errands, hauling building supplies for a project or just driving it for fun. I recently bought a pretty nice '48 wagon in running condition. It has been sitting for a while, but started right up and even had brakes. It is 2WD, L134, 3 on the tree with OD. It has minimal rust in the usual places. No photos of it yet, as soon as I replace the leaky water pump and replace the radiator and heater hoses, I'll post some pix.

Welcome Bill

Your truck looks a lot like one of my old rides....it had a 289 ford and someplace I have photos of my youngest daughter helping me change lugnuts... she was about two then..... today she is the mother of two and just had her 29th birthday.....thanks for the memories.

Welcome Bill - Did i hear '48 2WD? I've got a '49 6 cyl OD waiting in my barn for a resto budget... pretty orig but fuel delivery issues and the fact that it needs to come apart to go back together keep it in the barn for now. Meanwhile I'm slowly collecting little pieces and parts and having fun checking on everybody here for inspiration. Ya gotta love the high tech level of builds in here - way beyond my skills! - but I'm into restoring 1/2 my toys and using the others in the woods as is, in a state of suspended deterioration rather than restoration. My '56 pu falls into that category, temporarily without brakes but running fine!

The wagon will be restored to it's original glory someday - I really want to find original hardliner material (reasonable facsimile) for instance... meanwhile we lurk and learn! Looking forward to your pics and input!

Nice looking truck. Cool to see it still "working" with a load of dirt in the bed.
Welcome to the board. Let's see some pics when you can.

Great looking truck. The color is the same as my 57 wagon. I wonder if it is a original color?
Chuck

I was told by the PO that the color is an original Willys color called "Steel Glow Gray Poly". The paint job is strictly amateur, not much gloss, but is holding up very well.

Finally got some photos of my new-to-me '48 station wagon..
