It’s been a long few months and I haven’t posted any updates of pix… but we now have a rust free body, that’s been painted, am working on the interior now… we started w a really pretty Forest Green over a bed of rust and Bondo.
After having the interior and exterior bead blasted it was clear that the 52 Willy sitting on the 1975 Jeep Wagoneer with an 8 inch longer wheel base had somewhat “Frankenstein” sheet metal work completed… interestingly, the chassis has hockey pucks as the rubber bushings between the body and chassis… it would need new steel quarter panels and fenders
And as is typical, the project’s scope began to expand… the good news is the mechanical systems actually worked pretty well… the electrical was a hodge podge that would be dealt with later once we got the body work done
Interior painted, dynamat installed and decided to go with varnished wood panels in the back to match those that had come with her in the front. Newly installed speakers in the doors and back panels… she’s beginning to feel like a finished product… carpeting and headliner install is next!
Was able to get Willy logos that were on the original wagon front grill and tailgate digitized and recreated in vinyl … they came out really nice! If anyone would like either of these… I can get more made pretty easily!
