modern tires for an M38

Deestone sells worldwide, seem to be well liked by the flat fender gents:
Unfortunately not. D503 are not available in the EU :(
There are similar treads from other manufacturers but the availability is also problematic
Sure one could do an individual import, but it would then cost more than michelin XR

Btw, that is not a tire problem, is similar with many other items. For example some paints are either for industrial use only (you need a
proper business licence to be able to buy) or are not available at all. The same with oils, additives.....
Kinda like California. Edelbrock also makes good carbs, magnaflow makes good cat converters... but some of these are not for sale in Cali.

According to my nearest Willys expert 205/80 R16 seems to be the go-to size when you want to stick with the original willys rims. They also offer the greatest variety in new tires.
The german TÜV (technical surveillance organisation) does accept 205/80 R16 as a replacement to the 6.50 -16, and also accepts them on 4.5 -16 rims. They can officially be added in the Fahrzeugschein (papers). 215/85 R16 would be accepted as a replacement for 7.00 - 16, but they usually don't accept them on narrow rims.

To my knowledge one of the best options is the Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 205/80 R16 104T for around 85€/tire, I also saw a Mahindra CJ340 with Falken Wildpeak A/T AT3WA 205/80 R16 104T which looked quite good. They are around 100€/tire.

Hope this helps.
