So, my nieghbor had an old 76 CJ-7 with a damaged 258 in it, and he told me in exchange for rebuilding that motor, he would give me a 79 CJ-5 he had sitting out back. Seemed fair enough, so I agreed.

Turned out the engine had two spun rod bearings, and had been abused during life. After the machine shop had its way with it, the block was bored .40, and the crank .20, .20. So, now I am at the point where I will be getting the block, head and master rebuild kit back to the house next week.

I am just wondering if anyone out there has any experience with these engines, and if there is anything special I should watch out for on reassembly. Thanks!
