I also tried fittet the new engine, an 4.0HO inline 6 out of a Jeep Cherokee. It fits :D barely, but needs som adjustments, the fan will be removed and replaced by an electric one, new radiator, I need to fabricate new engine mounts. and so on.

Looks good. That should give it some get up and go. :thumbupleft:

Re: Kjetil`s 1954 Pickup...

Only some easy work done over the last few days, strippet the grille from crome parts and lights, think the grille needs some new paint. The hood got some shine back after a polish. left side done right side not

Re: Kjetil`s 1954 Pickup...

Kjetil,
I'm intrigued with what you have going on there. I'm sad to see the 226 replaced, but we do what we gotta do, eh. :) That 4.0 will give you some serious grunt i'm sure. I'll be tuning in more often. Have fun with it.

Cut of all the brackets and grinded the frame rail ready for boxing in the front. Also removed the steering box and lifted of the cab

You can't go wrong with the 4.0, It's so hard to kill those engines. The 1 in my brothers jeep, has around 300,000 miles on it, and still runs sweet.

Welding up the holes won't really add more strength, put it would make it look nicer and keep mud from filling the frame up...on the other side the holes would make it easier to wash the area out and assist in fishing fuel line. It's your call, not to many people crawl under a vehicle anyway....I do but I'm strange.

Found out that engine mounts is gonna bee over one of the holes so they will bee welded.

A post on the norwegian forum board pointed out that the bad welds are the original welds from the Toledo factory  , hope the guy got better at welding or lost his job, he removed more metal than he added :)

 The engine I`m using for moockup had a bad knock in it for more than a year, was a daily driver and got punished offroad once in a while. When it was taken out it was still going strong.
