Ok, I will try to explain this the best I can. Under the dash on my truck, between the vent lever, and the cigerette lighter, there is a toggle switch. It points straight down, just hanging out, being cool. I cannot for the life of me figure out what possible function it serves, but it kinda look like its suppose to be there. You can see it pretty clear in the photobucket pics.

Any ideas?

And one more question, the truck has dual stock heaters...er...are they safe? Should I keep them when I upgrade? Ugh, I feel like for every question answered, 12 more pop up...

Mine has it also, and it turned on the dome light. Not sure if that is supposed to be what it is for, but I will probably hook it back up that way.

I don't know where you've put you "photobucket pics" :? Maybe you could put them in your sigline when using them as reference?

Thanks, J. That makes it much easier ;)

Are you referring to the thing that looks like something small hanging down from the bottom of the dashboard face? In between the cowl actuator handle and the cigarette lighter?

If so, I have not a clue. If it is not what has already been suggested--a dome light switch--then you should me able to trace it back to its origin. Let us know what you find out, please.

As for you heater question. Everything on these vehicle (from what I've seen so far) are intrinsically refurbishable. After a good check out and refurbishment (if needed) I would have no qualms using anything on these vehicles. I plan to rehab and reuse mine.

Hope that helps!

J,
I did a little scoutin' around. If you think that toggle is original it had to be dealer installed. No such animal from the factory. It could have been for a number of things (which I know you know)
Electrics for plow
dome light
fog lights
other heater...the list goes on. My bet is an ignition cut off to keep thieves at bay.
Of course, after they read this...

I'm just going to pretend it was for a nitrous turbine rocket engine until I can dig the truck out of the snow next spring and find out the real deal. My bet is it is for a domelight like Tex said. I will let you guys know what I find!

I haven't paid much attention at all to the heaters, can anyone explain how they work, and why my truck came with two?

Clearly, I'm just too lazy to research it myself:)

CAUTION What ever you do don't touch or use it with a passenger in the seat....it will eject them through the roof....I saw that on an old James Bond movie.

Here is another question...somehow, my truck is missing the entire emergency brake. Did some trucks just not come with one? That doesn't seem likely...

Does anyone have pictures of what the emergency brake handle/lever/petal/whatever looks like mounted in the truck?

Try these! They are from David Hoezlemans truck.

(make sure you include the hyphen) Without it, the site you get is the wrong one, and it has a virus of some sort that caused many popups.
