Identify 12V or 6V?

For whatever reason, I had it in my head that my 59 Wagon L226 was a 6 volt. But I notice a "12V" on the side of what appears to be the stock starter motor: [attachment=0:209bq50o]100_7929.jpg[/attachment:209bq50o]
There are NO identifying tags on the generator: [attachment=1:209bq50o]100_7928.jpg[/attachment:209bq50o]

How can I verify which system I have before I go buy the wrong battery?

If your Willys was manufactured '57 or later, it should be 12V.
