EDIT: 1-4-2023, this was just the pitch for the Member Map, the actual Member Map can be found by clicking here>>>>>

MEMBER MAP

Any interest in starting a home grown Member Map, kinda just so we don't provide the folks like Pete and Dan any more work to do?

Google has a My Maps features.

I tossed on some vendors and the only 2 repair centers I know of around me that are Willys specific.

Just a thought, from what I found the original Member Map was hosted by a service that is not around, the second version I could not find.

It's a process for sure to maintain this.

I personally would not use my home address although just by sharing this not sure what others can see?

The Map in general supports I think 10,000 spots and each layer 2000, tou can have 10 layers, I don't forsee all members jumping in on this and it could fizzle out pretty quickly.

Here is how I set this up.
  • Willys Vendors
  • Willys Repair Centers
  • Members US West
  • Members US MidWest
  • Members US South
  • Members US East
  • Members Canada
  • Members Australia
  • Members International
  • Members Other

Personally not sure if I would ever need this either......

But it was easy enough to pitch the concept if others wanted in and thought it was a good idea.

Here is a draft, (not really a draft, it's live and works on my devices.)

OWF Vendor and Members Map

It appears this would be a manual deal, maybe let's take baby steps and see if this is not a duplicate effort of sorts. I don't see that others can add places.

If not a duplicate effort or there is not an already known easier way, I see this as follows if it's a manual process.

Will start a new thread in the Fourm Feedback with the basic overview of what this is and folks can post some version of the following.
No worries if this goes nowhere, only took about 15min to do this so far.

If anyone sees a flaw in what I shared let me know, I tried to hide all my personal info and the sort, hopefully that's working and I'm not sharing a bunch of my stuff.

OK, I think we have a plan then, will use the following. It can just be the state as well with no town and I will grab the center of the state.

User Name: TimD32
City, State: Map Town, NJ
Description: 1963 Wagon

No home addresses please. You are welcome to provide the Longitude and Latitude, but that format can be tricky, the file is actually in WKT format, which is as follows.

This is how it actually formats in the file.
WKT
POINT (-75.668368 40.799747)

Name
Walcks 4WD

Link remains the same,

OWF Vendor and Members Map

I added the following
Orange = Vendor
Brown = Shop
Blue = Member

Will start that new clean thread for this one.

Do I contact you to be added or do I add myself (I don't know how)?

I could not figure out a DIY deal, so I will toss you on the list.

Sounds great I was inquiring about this recently. If I can't do it myself then put me on the list. Getting referrals for shops that can help us repair and restore our rigs was what I had in mind.

Yeah I knew of 2 Willys specific, they are on there they are brown pins, and you can turn on those layers.

If folks have more known good ones welcome to add them.

------------------------------
Just some background info, if there are older map files these could be merged most likely, the layers are just 3 column CSV files and you just simply click "import". Incase something easier is found.

Each layer gets a file. Only supports 10 layers.

It's actually a cool very fast way to make job site maps and office locations.
