The hole under the right parklight is that original? And why is it there?
On mine it seems original, but the horn mounted there is defenitly not.

That would most likely be for a cold air intake. Would have had a flexible hose theater assembly on firewall.

Like Nugilo said, original for cold air intake to heater. Should have had a screen over it and flex hose coming from it originally.

The replacement hose from Walck's is a rubbery accordion affair, and the diameter has to be stretched a little to fit over the collars at the front and back of the engine compartment. This is hard to do in the front because there isn't room to work. The easiest way to manage the installation is to remove the collar from the back of the grille. It is held in place by three phillips screws put in from the front. Once the hose is attached to the collar, the collar can be reattached to the grille. It's then an easy matter to attach the other end of the hose to the collar on the firewall.

If yours is like most of them you probably have an assortment of different year parts. If it is a '54, I don't think that hole should be there, but its a good place for the horn, then.

The hole in the grille is a fresh air intake that supplys the heater if your grille has that hole the the grille is gonna be a 56-7? and up to 63 the 54 grilles did not have the hole in them. so if you want a correct truck then you got to find a short radiator shroud 3 bar grille

but if you dont mind having a mismatched truck then it really dont matter what you have as all the body parts from 50 - 63 will bolt up and work happily together.

hell my truck has mismatched fenders on it right now a 51 left and a 54 right but cant really tell unless you know what the difference is.
