Headlight switch

Got it back together and all functions work EXCEPT the dome light. It appears the rheostat has gone bad. Can't get a continuity between the power input and the dome light terminal no matter what position is selected on the switch. Oh well, it was fun trying to repair it anyway.

Are you chure?
My recollection is that the dome light contact bypasses the rheostat.

I agree, it should bypass the resistor.
Did further testing today and yes the dome light appears to bypass the rheostat. With that discovered, I think my switch is ok. Have not got it re-installed yet.

I reworked mine following the guide you refer to and it works great now.

Good to here - it was fun when I worked mine. That was almost 20 years ago.)

Thanks for the guide line post. It helped a lot.

And having these experiences posted are really great. Thanks to all of those who have done it. They have helped me a number of times. And the satisfaction you get by bringing back the original is a great feeling. And the originals are far better than the new Chinese crap.
