The painter has set the bar for the rest of the body... And now you have a better vision for your work on the underhood and chassis. Hope it does not break into the vacations...LOL. And WOW!
All done in enamel and not the water based paints commonly used today might be the reason?Looks great Marcus! I am a little surprised that the shop is going to wait a few weeks to cut/buff. That is pretty old school . Paints today are designed to cut in 24 hours or the effort just tripled.
It is in the brand new booth, which was the cause of the delay, where they control all those things.I am surprised they are painting the hood, doors and other parts(?) separately. Colors such as that are super sensitive to air pressure, temperature and humidity.

Absolutely amazing. I love the color. I'm a little surprised they are not painting it all at the same time. I would be interested in the plan to keep the color uniform so the doors match the cab - it would make painting mine a lot easier if I could do the same. Finally can update as have not been able to get on for over 2 weeks! Thanks Pete for finding a solution.
Fresh off the gun without any cutting or polishing. Photos show it more green than it is to the eye and is the original choice of Harley Davidson Olive Green Pearl.
Painter is happy with the De Beers paint and said will get even better off the gun now he has a good handle on how it flows out.
Truer to the natural colour. Louvers look great considering I cut them with a wood chisel and formed them by hand with a piece of redgum into a steel form I made!
Even the bits you wont see behind the bed wall look great!
The cab will be left to harden for a few weeks and then cut and polished. Doors and front clip will be next and have already been blocked ready for final primer.
I questioned them on that right at the start and they say they do it that way all the time and there is no difference between the panels. All the paint for the whole job is pre-mixed to solve that side of it. They have won many awards with the cars they paint, so must know what they are doing.Absolutely amazing. I love the color. Nothing I have ever bought or built ever had the level of planning, execution and results you have demonstrated and achieved throughout your build.I questioned them on that right at the start and they say they do it that way all the time and there is no difference between the panels. I did see your response concerning their new booth and the control they have over the variables. Somehow it feels right that your work is getting the highest level of care available for the final finish.I questioned them on that right at the start and they say they do it that way all the time and there is no difference between the panels. Their painter needed the extra booth too as that is all he does is paint and final blocking to make sure it is right. Others do nothing but the body prep before he sees it and others fabrication etc. Lots of new cars come through before delivery repairing any shipping damage or new customer requests for blacking out chrome etc. Those parts are removed from the vehicles to prep and black them out rather than done on the vehicles.I did see your response concerning their new booth and the control they have over the variables. What a wonderful comment, thank you.Nothing I have ever bought or built ever had the level of planning, execution and results you have demonstrated and achieved throughout your build.
When you indicated it was going out for paint, as stupid as it may be, I felt like I was losing control.
Crazy...I had no blood, sweat or tears in your project.
Thanks for including me/us in your journey.
