Correct Harmonic Damper for 1955 L-226?

While going through my engine parts, I've come across conflicting information regarding the correct harmonic damper that came with my truck. What I removed is the larger 7 1/4" diameter damper which shows in one online resource as coming from a FC 170 rather than the 6 1/4" damper more commonly found on the pickup.

I'm curious about this damper, as I do not readily see how this would be rebuilt as there is no evidence of how it could come apart and require rebuilding like many other L-226 owners have experienced. Nowhere on this damper is it possible to see any evidence of decaying rubber/silicone as it is entirely solid.

Is the 7 1/4" version of the damper rebuildable? I'm trying to avoid putting somehing back onto my refreshed engine that may need to be rebuilt or a potential point of failure.

I did run a small neodymium magnet across that area where the pully groove meets the flat surface of the damper and it all appears to have the same magnetic attraction.

WillysJeepParts.com lists the 7 1/4" damper as P/N 911210 and shows it for a L-226 FC 170. They show the 6 1/4" damper as P/N 927852 which corresponds to the L-226 in the wagon and pickup. Two very different styles of dampers. My engine S/N is T41710.

At this point I'm more curious than concerned about the difference. I did call the Damper Doctor and they quoted me a $400 rebuild cost for a non-rivited, single pully style damper but said they'd confirm the actual cost once they get the damper in hand. Their price looks to be in line for what you would have to pay for a rebuilt one elsewhere.

Could be clearance issues with the truck/wagon. IIRC there is a cross member in close proximity on my wagon in the same configuration as you mentioned. Someone with an FC would have a better idea of the surroundings in that platform.
 
Last week I just sent the Doctor two L6-226 damper/pulleys I removed from two engines I have on dollies awaiting use. One will be going into my upcoming ‘55 Utility Wagon project.
One pulley had its rubber insulator and timing ring but loose. The other had no sign of any rubber or timing ring, it was just the pulley. There’s a puzzle.
I believe all the 226’s have the timing ring. So I’m missing a ring. Maybe the doctor will come up with one. I saw on his site damper for “Willys226 $300”. We’ll see what he does.
Your damper appears to be fully intact and just fine. Go with it.
My previous L6-226 engine rebuild had a fully intact solid non degraded damper pulley that did not require rebuild.
