I put in for the lottery a few months ago to go to the FCT but didn't make the cut, and was something like 38 on the alternate list. I thought be no way that many people would bail out, so I figured it wasn't going to happen and forgot about it.

I was surprised to get a call from Mike Picard last night, asking if I wanted a spot on the FCT in a couple of weeks. Naturally, I said yes despite not having planned for it at all...

So, I'm scrambling to get Barnacle Will trail ready and logistics of being gone from work for a week. It will be totally worth it :D

I've never been before, so looking forward to getting Barnacle Will into the Colorado high country with the flatfender gang. It will be fun to hang with @WV Steve and @Johnnygeep among many others.

Anyone else here going?

Pete

Coming in at number 80 out of the 50 "sure thing" attendees at the Fall Color Tour, I opted instead to join a flat fender run on the Rubicon Trail in July. Got home early August figured I was done jeeping for the year. Got my jeep in for some body work (wanted the windshield to go up again, etc.). Had it back a week when Mike called. With my wife's encouragement I accepted the invite to the CFC tour. Went out to check my trailer tires this afternoon and found one was flat. Few other things to get done by Friday before starting out. It is always great to be with another 50 old jeeps. Looking forward to seeing Pete and John again as well of some others from the Rubicon run.

Wow, that's dedication. You're crossing the country twice.

Well, its worse than that, I also enjoyed the Moab Old Willys Rally in Moab in May. Pete and I with a couple others did a run up Poison Spyder after the rally. I think this does it for the year.

The rest of us look forward to seeing lots of pictures.
The first year I went I was a passenger most of the time so I had opportunity to take some great pictures. This year we are taking my son’s 2A ( it has a better top than mine) so I hope to get a lot of pictures. 724FEAAF-3694-423C-86AB-A891D03FF7A1.jpeg

Where are the planned trail runs and locations - I think last year it was in Buena Vista area? If there is a chance to cross paths for a beer or whatnot that would be cool. I am hoping to get out and run a couple more trails this fall - so if you are around beyond the FCT program, would be fun to run a trail. Of course, you'd have to put up with a 'modern' round fendered cj5.

Most of the trails are around BV, east to aspen ridge, mt antero, mt Princeton, Marshall pass, south and west of poncha springs. It’s pretty relaxed, You could always come over to the ranch in the afternoon, always beer and BS in the shop. Folks will start to show up there on Saturday, then a bunch will come in on Sunday

Don't know if this is the right place or not to post this but just got my Summer copy of Flatferndering Aficionado, Pete and Barnacle Bill are the subject of a nice article and photos. For those who are not familiar with this publication you might want to look into it.

Epic day yesterday, we did an 11 1/2 hour loop over Tincup Pass, Napoleon Pass, and Hancock Pass, all over 12,000 feet altitude. Today I feel like I was hit by a bus, but it was worth it
