  1. CJ
Willys Year:
  1. 1956
I was told when I purchased this about 12 years ago that it was a 1956 CJ-6. However, the motor doesn’t match up to the year (V6 not 4 cyl). Can anybody help with telling me for certain what year this is and/or motor specifics (odd vs even fire)? I have looked at the serial # decoding info that I could find but did not find the 5 digit “33067” in the CJ-6 serial number ranges, it would match up to a 1956 CJ-5. The engine serial codes I know even less about.

body serial: 8405 A 33067
Engine serial: AK 1027533

I have attached the body placard as well as the engine serial number found below driver side cylinder head.

CJ6 Built early March 1967 according to your serial plate

I don't recognize the engine code.

Thanks Keith, that helps. I couldn't seem to find 5 digit serial numbers after 1961 it looked like they went to 13 digit series from 10.

8405 A 33067

84 = CJ-6 Universal
05 = Open body
A = V6 225
3 = LDH, California
3 = ?? not an option where I looked on Morris
067 = unique serial ID

in 1967 they still only used a 4 digit prefix. The A either designated a Tuxedo Park, or an export code. your actual Serial is 33067, that is not a 'code'.

I don't know what 'Morris' is...

The A either designated a Tuxedo Park, or an export code.

I believe for it to be a cj6 Tux Park (known as a cj6a)- it would have to have 22 for the 3rd and 4th digit? 8422 for the first four? I could be wrong....I would probably venture a guess that the 'A' is either an export item or possibly the beginning of the transition for the v6 designation that was 'A' in the later 13 digit numbers?

James, you got me on that one, You are absolutely correct. I should have checked instead of going by memory, I'm in Denver today visiting friends...

Thanks for correcting my error.
