My 62 traveler has an upgraded wiper system in it, it is made by Specialty Power Windows and is the same system as I see posted here made by EZ Wiring. Whoever installed it did it so the wipers move in the same direction, both to the left, then the right, etc. The stock system I understand had the wipers in park both facing outboard, so they moved towards each other, then away, etc. I guess they did this because of the older split windshield design. Since I have a one piece windshield, is this still needed? I can configure these wipers to do either and park anyway I want. Any experience or advice on this?

My '62 also has the one piece windshield and the original system parks as you describe, moving away from center and parking flat across the bottom of the glass. I'd guess the original design was because of the 2 piece windshield and wasn't changed since there wasn't really a reason or concern. I like what they do, but I don't see a need for them to be that way. Functional is the main idea so if yours work then I wouldn't worry about it if you're happy with them.

The whole thing needs to be worked over, the aftermarket non Willys arms he was using are wallowed out and were not formed right to park good, many discrepancies I need to work out. Since I have a left and right original arm set, I can set it up to the original style function, or with 2 lefts or 2 rights I can set it up with both left or both right park. Has anyone tried this and found any disadvantages or advantages to other sweep configurations besides the factory one?

I do like they way mine (original setup) park and the way they sweep. I personally think it is probably the best setup and the cleanest looking since when parked the blades lay flat, even with the bottom of the windshield. Without looking at my wagon and measuring I have to wonder would the blades interfere or hit each other if both were parked to either the right or left?

One of the things that wore me out using my Wagon as a DD was the wipers in the snow. With the "gull wing" wiper blade action during a wet snow the middle of the windshield would start to build up the snow the two blades packed together... As my field of vision narrowed I'd have to pull over and clean the mess off. This sucked a whole lot if I was stuck in bumper to bumper hwy traffic reduced to 30mph because of the storm--no fun trying to get back into traffic...

The gull wing looks cool and I won't change the pattern (I've got a split windshield though) but I also don't use my Willys when "gotta get there on time" is a factor anymore...

Just take one set of the cables running under your dash (ie, the two passenger cables), and cross them. That will make them come together at the top, then separate at the bottom.

Hm... just realized I'm not that familiar with your particular setup. My electric conversion retained all of the under cowl cables and tensioners, and just replaced the vac motor with an electric setup... so if you still have cables like me, then my advice stands.
