'62 wagon idle issues

Maybe you could try this:
Start the car and let it warm up
Once warm and idling, push the car side to side (simulating splashing and inertia) to try to cause your stopping symptoms
Maybe (with e-brake on) push and pull the front bumper to see if the idle changes at all.
Use a stick to poke at the coil wires, both the high voltage and the low voltage going to the ignition switch and distributor points.
If the ignition switch is old and you have a bunch of keys on the key ring with the ignition key, maybe there a failure going on – in the ignition switch
Maybe make sure you don’t have a lead inside the distributor moving around under inertia
A bad condenser could cause this too…. But hard to see why only under braking…except a connection or shorting wire
Wiggle the key a bit to see if the engine cuts out and back in
Then it’s back to the carb… Is the hesitation from too much or not enough gas?
Vacuum would be the last thing I guess…
Like the old timers used to say… Most Gas Problems are Electrical ;)
