I've just bought a '53 Wagon,it's registered as a 4 door but I'm not seeing any 4 doors any where.Did they make them?If mine was then it has been shortened when it was cut up to make a "pickup.

Four door models were manufactured, but they were not for the general public. They were tagged as FAIRMONT HY-RAILS for the railroad industry. You can find them on the web. Paul Barry, at Willys America, has two of them.

Some folks do have them and have converted them for their use, which is great. I think they're kinda cool.

I guess I'll know more about it when I get it home and start tearing her apart.any know where I can get upper rear quarter panels for the wagon,I'd like to make mine a wagon again if possible.

Judging from the rear body panel that they folded over it looks like atleast that much is a 2 door. The 4 door panel has the ribs on the door and fender side. if it has an original vin to it there shows on all the decoders an 07 location in the vin verifying a railroad vehicle. some other areas to look at are the front shock mounts. i had a 4 door for awhile and checked out a bunch of these differences before I got rid of it. the front shock mounts are on the inside of the frame instead of the outside like normal. there is also some brackets midway under the body roughly behind where the cab would be.

my sugestion would be pickup a donor wagon or another wagon and keep that as a truck. Kinda looks cool and is different the way it is. i seen lots of 4 door cars converted into pickups out here in montana on some old fars and it is just neat to see. plus something converted like that shows off american enginuity
