2024 Run For The Hills - Idaho! June 14-17, 2024

Well, as much as it pains me to post this, I've come to the realization that the RFTH Idaho '24 isn't going to work out for us. A transmission issue makes this year a no-go. This is a "bucket list" trip for me, so hopefully we can make 2025 work.

I'll be canceling my reservation at the High Country Inn, so if anyone is looking for a room, one will be available.

Here is my trans trouble. Broken pump (700r4).

Here is my trans trouble. Broken pump (700r4).

I think you should repair your transmission and attend this years RFTH. :)

I have had carburation "issues" on my jeep for a couple of years, off and on. I finally broke down and bought a new rebuilt carb from Summit. It showed up yesterday. Last night I exhanged carbs and my jeep runs better than ever!

If I could make it happen I would! Hopefully neat year.

Glad to hear the new carb solved your problem. Hopefully you’re all set for the RFTH. It’s coming up pretty quickly.

I don't think Rocket Rodney is going anywhere, except to Dr. visits. Monday the Dr. drew 60 ml of fluid off the right knee, two full horse syringes. of 10w30 Penzoil. (Cute Nurse). Tuesday, I passed my pre-op. They say my heart is good enough to go under. 5/14/24 I have an Ortho Surgeon appt at Mather VA Hospital, with a little luck I might have a new Bionic Knee by RFTH.IMG_20240429_124217844.jpg

You should get great care there. Some excellent orthopedic surgeons work at Mather.

Oooh…. That looks like it smarts a bit…

Maybe you should’ve had the Doc add another quart of oil, maybe you’re low on knee lubricant!

Seriously though, I hope your surgery goes well.

Two weeks left to get your RFTHs shirts ordered, the deadline is May 27th. The shirt link will close on the 28th, so be sure to get yours ordered before we shut-r-down.

Also, please review the list of attendees in the first post of this thread, and if you are attending and your name isn't on the list please post here to let me know. And, if your name is on the list and you are not coming, also please let me know. We are trying to keep a head count together so we can anticipate the chaos... :D

And, a reminder that Stanley is a remote mountain town with few services. You will need to bring everything for trail-side repairs that you think you may need. The closest auto parts store is in Ketchum, Id, is 65 miles away and unlikely they even know what a Willys is. There is fuel, food, and lodging in town, but that's about it.

Meals are not hosted, but we will be trying to have meals together at either the Kasino Klub or Mountain Village Resort. We will be having lunches on the trail, so you will need to BYOL. There is a small general store with groceries and supplies, but no Walmarts or Targets...

The weather in Stanley can change rapidly, and temperature swings can range as much as +/- 30-40 degrees day to night. Stanley is often the coldest spot in the lower 48 states, and the town sits at elevation 6253'. We will be at higher elevations on the trails, Basin Butte Lookout is at 8,954' and Loon Creek Summit is at 8,686'. Plan for cold temps, but it may also be shirt-sleeve wheather. If you plan to camp, there is a chance it may be chilly at night so plan accordingly.

Looking forward to seeing you all in Stanley, it will be here before you know it!

I read an interesting tidbit on "Buckskin Bill" and his sniper tower on the Salmon River... will we be anywhere near that?

Also.... a second on the big thanks! Putting something like this on is a ton of work and I really appreciate your efforts, Pete

@Pete and @Stakebed
The "anticipation" of Chaos with Destination, _ _ _ Sleepy little Stanley, sounds exciting.
Sleepy little Stanley is about to be invaded by Willys freaks for a weekend soon. Hahahaha.
OMG; no Panda Express, Taco Bells, Walmart Super-stores or Costcos. Sounds like the Boon-Toolies. :)

I had purchased a Ford crewcab pickup from a local logging company with a bumper sticker:
Lowman Idaho - home of beautiful horses, and fast women.

LoL
