I'm new here, not new to cjs, bought my first one new in 1974.
I'm doin some work on one of my 67 cj5s, I have two.
One has a fiberglass body so is no use what so ever(molded in dash), but the one I'm workin on has a steel body, although I think the only 1967 item on it is the title. LOL
I'm only 5'10"s tall, but I can't get my knees under the dash.
The dash measures 13"s tall, and 57 1/2"s long.
Just wondering what a stock 1967 cj5 dash would measure?

Here's another question that might help in getting my knees under the dash. lol
The seats are built on custom frames, this could also make the dash seem lower.
How far off of the floor do the front edge of the bottom of the seats set?
How high off of the box does the back bottom edge of the seat sit?

Thanks
Jim

Is there a cutout where the steering tube is bolted to the dash?
Thanks for the help.

There's like a stamped cutout, slightly larger than the steering column diameter and kind of flanged out on the back side to help support the column. Then a bracket bolts to the underside of the dash to support the column from the bottom.

Wheelie,

I have several dashes that look very similar to yours, with the same measurements as yours, all with extra holes/cutouts, etc., just wasn't sure what they were out of.

It would take more time to weld everything shut, and start over on those dashes, than it would be to just whack a couple of inch's off the top of mine.

The dash in my 67 is definitely taller at 13"s, it looks factory, it even has a nicely formed glovebox opening, but could easily be an aftermarket job.

I'm guessing my seat problem will become a non-issue once I cut the dash down.

After I get done rebuilding the transfer case, I'll attack the dash. LOL

Thanks again for the help.

Jim
