As noted I have a 100 percent stock ( restored) 1955 Jeep CJ5.

I put completely rebuilt steering box in. Then I had to have both my shoulders completely replaced. Not a partial the who shoulder and rotator cup.
Anyway I can barely steer my Jeep now. And the day after pretty ugly!

Anyway has anybody put power steering in one that old? And if so how did you do it, do you have pictures, part numbers etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have spent a bunch of time and money to now have this happen and I want to drive my Jeep.

Maybe there's room for something like one of these in a CJ5?

Does a power steering box take much energy when in typical operation? An improperly-tensioned belt only usually squeals when the steering is cranked to full lock.

I have one of these units on my 34 Chevy Master hot rod. Same reason I need it on the Jeep. However it required a notched steering shaft or a shaft flat on one side. I was of the understanding that the old Jeeps steering shafts were fully round. Does anybody happen to know?
